Abstract

From suffering to resignification, the role of the Gestalt therapist to carry out this continuous process.

When we talk about suffering for common sense, we think of something bad. According to the Mini Aurélio dictionary (2020), suffering is Act or effect of suffering, Physical pain, great moral pain, Anguish and Affliction. So when we come across someone in pain soon comes the expectation of ending it definitively; however, the Gestalt therapist can in some way minimize the view that suffering is only something bad and help his client to see the potential in every movement of his life.

With the proper approach along with the established relationship between the Gestalt therapist and the client, the search for this goal is increasingly strengthened, which demonstrates the importance of this professional to individuals experiencing a lack of will to live. In addition, these individuals may often not find a meaning to live, and their lives are often based on empty experiences, trying to live other people's lives. This is enhanced by social media, where it is easy to assume that their life is bigger and better.

The therapeutic bond between the Gestalt therapist and the individual allows for a smoother and more comfortable process. However, it is seen that the process of change is continuous and never linear.

The understanding that all movements are part of the process of acceptance and experiences of each client uniquely, is strengthened to the Gestalt therapist that the lead will always be of the client and it is up to each professional to understand the attitudinal pattern of his client. They must be the bridge between suffering and its resignification and help the client experience their life in a fuller and more conscious way.

Awareness is important in a therapeutic relationship, often through strategies designed specifically for each one in certain situations it is possible to give awareness and enable freedom of choice in their lives, choices that without this understanding of repetitive attitudinal patterns are potential for the individual's suffering.

Lastly, we understand that suffering is part of the human condition, but we also see that there are always possibilities and ways for the Gestalt therapist to minimize and be the way for the client to have ways of coping or simply be the listener of their anguish, enabling reflection and awareness.
