AUTOMUTILATION AND RETROFLECTION
APPROACHING SELF-INJURY FROM A GESTALT-THERAPY PERSPECTIVE
Keywords:
retroflexão, autolesão, gesltalt-terapiaAbstract
This theoretical study aims to answer a main question: what is the role of retroflection in the context of self-mutilation, and how does this contact mechanism affect the relationship between the self and the environment? The research method used was the qualitative documental bibliographic exploratory character, using articles published in Google Scholar, SciELO, PePSIC and in classic books of Gestalt-therapy literature. During research, it was found that this contact mechanism contributes to a creative dysfunctional adjustment of the self and plays a key role in cases of self-injury (self-mutilation). In this way, the main question was answered. This research proved to be still relevant to contribute to the generation of content for the academic community, given the scarcity of bibliographical writings and recent research on the subject, as can be seen in the course of this work
